KUKL yet to collect Rs 2.12 billion dues

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), has a staggering Rs 2.12 billion dues to recover from its customers, including government agencies, private organisations and households.

According to the KUKL Managing Director Dr Mahesh Kumar Bhattarai, customers failing to foot their bills for the water facility from the state-owned utility have already been notified to clear their dues at the earliest.

MD Bhattarai warned that water from the Melamchi Water Supply Project would not be supplied to those not clearing their dues.

The KUKL's Maharajgunj office has the highest outstanding dues to collect Rs 270.8 million followed by Baneshwar office at Rs 270.3 million.

The water supply from the Melamchi Water Project is likely to come into operation from October this year.
