Law Minister Dhakal tables Protection of Victims of Crime Bill in National Assembly

Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal today tabled a bill related to the Protection of Victims of Crime in the National Assembly.

Presenting the bill, Dhakal said the bill would help protect the rights of victims of crime and facilitate compensation and rehabilitation.

In today’s NA meeting, lawmakers demanded that the government provide relief assistance to victims of floods and landslides. They also raised the issue of arbitrary imposition of taxes at the local levels.

Lawmakers Kali Prasad Malla, Ramesh Prasad Yadav and Bhairav Sundar Shrestha demanded that the government distribute relief to victims of natural disasters in Jajarkot.

Meanwhile, the NA rescheduled the date for the elections of the chairs of its four thematic committees for August 29 from the previously set date of August 19.

At the meeting, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina said the date had to be postponed due to ‘special reason’.

The four NA committees are Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee; Legislation Management Committee; Delegated Legislation and Government Assurance Committee; and National Concern and Coordination Committee.
