Lawmaker Giri criticises PM

Kathmandu, July 12

Nepali Congress lawmaker Pradip Giri today criticised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli or not allowing Nepal Sanskrit University Kul Prasad Koirala to fly to Canada to attend World Sanskrit Conference scheduled for July 9 to 13.

Koirala was detained from Tribhuvan International Airport while he was about to board a Canada-bound flight.

Speaking at the House of Representatives, lawmaker Giri said, “Koirala was asked by a deputy superintendent of police at TIA to visit the PM’s official residence, where he was made to wait for a long time.

He was then allowed to go free without even meeting the prime minister,” Giri said, adding, “In democracy, the government should be afraid of the people, but if the people are afraid of the government, then it is . But if the people is afraid with the government, it is dictatorship,” he added.
