Leaders assert NC-UDMF meeting positive

KATHMANDU: Leaders on Tuesday expressed their confidence that the discussion held between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) would reach to a conclusion soon as the talks headed in a positive manner.

NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said that the NC-UDMF meeting, held today at the party President Sushil Koirala’s residence at Maharajgunj, was positive and closer to a conclusion.

Stating that the next meeting with the UDMF would be held after discussing the matter with the other parties, he said, "We should move ahead by forging consensus among all parties. Effort in this regard is underway."

Similarly, General Secretary of the Tarai-Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP), Sarbendranath Shukla, also expressed the same stating their discussion upon different issues was headed towards positive path. "Further discussion is necessary with the NC regarding contentious issues of the new constitution in order to reach a consensus."

He expressed the belief that a conclusion would be drawn in the next meeting after doing homework even though some matters are debatable at the moment.
