Local development ministry sets new policy for transfer of its employees

Kathmandu, September 24

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has set a new policy for the transfer of employees within the ministry and its subordinate agencies.

As per the new policy, transfers will be made giving top priority to filling the vacant posts in the districts worst affected by recent earthquakes. The government had declared 14 districts as worst affected by the earthquake after an assessment of the damage to life and property.

“Priority will be given to the transfer of pregnant and lactating employees and those who were injured or maimed in the recent earthquakes. The employees seeking transfer should submit necessary documents certified by the concerned District Administration Office and recognised hospital,” said the ministry.

The ministry also said that the VDC secretaries will not be transferred in a manner that would adversely affect service delivery at the local level. “Any employee failing to carry out their responsibilities and remaining absent from work for a long period may be transferred anywhere on the discretion of competent authority,” it read. Employees who have demonstrated good performance will be transferred to accessible areas.
