Karki impeachment debate to resume Friday

KATHMANDU: The Parliament is resuming deliberations on the impeachment motion filed against the Chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Lok Man Singh Karki on Friday*.

Speaker Onsari Gharti has called the House meeting for 11 am on Friday, according to her Press Advisor Babin Sharma.

The meeting was scheduled for Thursday; but has been postponed for a day more considering the celebration of Phalgunanda Jayanti, according to Sharma.

The Parliament on October 25 had begun discussions on the motion filed by total 157 lawmakers belonging to the main opposition CPN-UML and the ruling CPN Maoist Centre.

While the proposing parties have already decided to vote for the motion against Karki, the largest force in the House--Nepali Congress--is yet to make any decision over the issue.

Leaders of the party have been airing conflicting views on whether to support the motion.
