Man held for swindling herb trader

KATHMANDU: Police arrested a man from Sankarapur Municipality of the Capital for his alleged involvement in swindling a herb traderĀ of Rs 6 million.

A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division nabbed Ganesh Kumar Pandit (48), a resident of Sankarapur-8, on Friday.

Police informed that Pandit introduced Ramlaxmi Twayana from Bhaktapur Mucicipality-14 of Bhaktapur, owner of the Nawaras Herbal Industries, with Nirmal Karki from Chisapani VDC-1 of Khotang district, who owns a herb processing company named Jaivik Bibidhata Nepal.

Pandit had assured the woman that he would bring equipment and machinery needed to upgrade her industry and took her into confidence to give him the money.

Twayana had kept her land as collateral to borrow loan for the purpose, police said.

The suspect has been handed over to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations and actions.
