Maternity hospital to get solar plant

Kathmandu, June 25

Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital at Thapathali, Kathmandu, has decided to install solar plant at the hospital.

The solar plant would provide uninterrupted power supply, which would  ensure round-the-clock services to the patients, said senior accounts officer at the hospital Chandra Bahadur Gurung.

“The maternity hospital receives more than 60 delivery cases each day and in most of the cases the patients have to undergo surgery,” Gurung said, justifying the need for installation of solar plant.

“With the system installed, we will get rid of the problem caused by low power voltage and irregular power supply. Uninterrupted power supply will make tasks like sterilising medical equipment easier,” Gurung added.

According to Gurung, all preparations have been completed and the system would come into operation by mid-July. The estimated cost of installing the solar plant is Rs 2.5 million.
