Education Minister calls to make library techno-friendly

KATHMANDU: Minister for Education Dhaniram Paudel today emphasised the need to make libraries across the country technology-friendly alongside the development of science and technology.

Acknowledging the importance of library, he also pitched for digitalising it.

"Library is a sea of knowledge. The boundary of knowledge spreads across the world; so library should be made reliable and sustainable," he said.

The Minister was speaking at the event organised to mark the 9th Library Day in the Capital.

Speaking on the occasion, Officiating Education Secretary Dilli Ram Rimal said it was the need of the hour to expand the reach of library across the country in cooperation with the government and non-governmental organisation.

Also, Ministry of Education Joint-Secretary Hari Lamsal, Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training Vice-Chairman Kul Bahadur Basnet, library campaigners Ashok Thapa and Dasharath Mishra also pitched for making necessary laws for the development of library.

Meanwhile, people from various walks of life and various organisations were honoured for their contribution to the development of library.
