Kathmandu, September 23

Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Mahendra Yadav inspected the Melamchi Water Supply Project’s tunnel at Sundarijal today and urged the contractors to speed up construction work.

According to Melamchi Water Supply Development Board, Minister Yadav reached Sundarijal around 11:00am today. Project officials briefed him on the project’s progress so far. Deputy Executive Director at Melamchi Water Supply Development Board Ramakanta Duwadi said the minister pledged all possible support to the project.

“The minister inspected the tunnel and also visited Gokerneshwor Municipality-4 Bhairabchaur Danda where the Bulk Distribution System suffered a glitch on September 19,” he told The Himalayan Times.

This is the first inspection visit by Yadav to the project site after being appointed minister. The project contractor promised Melamchi project breakthrough by December this year.
