Mugu Hospital in dire need of upgrading

KATHMANDU: A delegation that arrived in the Capital from Mugu, a remote hilly district from midwestern region of Nepal, has demanded for upgrading and development of physical infrastructures and expansion of services in the District Hospital of Gamgadhi.

During a meeting with the Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, the team argued him to uplift the 15-bed hospital, which was in a dilapidated condition and had not a specialist doctor.

The team also demanded that the hospital be made of 150-bed capacity and equipped with modern medical instruments.

Appointment of specialist doctors was another pressing need, they said.

On the occasion, Minister Thapa said that he was positive towards their demands and would take necessary initiatives on the behalf of the Ministry, said Khadga Bahadur Shahi, a delegation member and Mugu district President of Nepali Congress.
