NC mulls over deferring lower committee conventions

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Central Working Committee and Parliamentary Party held a joint meeting at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar this morning.

The meeting is discussing whether to reschedule conventions of lower level committees without affecting the date of the party's 13th national general convention.

The largest party of the Constituent Assembly has scheduled its 13th general convention for September 19-22.

Emerging from the meeting, NC CWC member Gagan Kumar Thapa said the party began thinking over postponements of village, municipal, constituency and district committee conventions as the schedule is likely to be affected by the CA's plan for constitution promulgation.

The party had decided that it would hold conventions of its ward, village and municipal committees on August 18.

Likewise, the constituency committee conventions and district committee conventions were scheduled for August 24 and 27 respectively.
