NC leader Bastola's last rites to be performed today evening

KATHMANDU: Last rites of the deceased Nepali Congress (NC) leader Chakra Prasad Bastola will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu this evening.

Before the funeral, the mortal remains will be kept at the party headquarters in Sanepa, Lalitpur for last respects from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm today.

Bastola breathed his last at around 10:20 pm on Saturday in his own residence.

He was 72.

His final rites would be performed after his younger daughter Garima returned home from London, who is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu at 4:00 pm today.

Bastola had suffered brain haemorrhage on December 29, 2012 while attending a programme organised by the Bastola clan in Morang district. He remained comatose ever since.

The emergency meeting of the NC Central Committee will be held at 2:00 pm today to express their respects to leader Bastola.

NC has postponed the scheduled programme of submitting the memorandum in all 77 districts.
