NC to table amendment proposal institutionally

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has decided to table amendment proposal on the Revised Bill of constitution of Nepal-2072 BS, institutionally.

The party spokesperson Dilendra Badu informed that the central working committee meeting of the party held at the Constituent Assembly (CA) building on Tuesday made this decision.

The meeting has formed a taskforce led by the party parliamentary chief whip Chinkaji Shrestha for the purpose.

The taskforce comprises Ananda Prasad Dhungana and Ramesh Lekhak.

The meeting also held discussion on the issue of amending the date of party general convention as the schedule of constitution drafting and convention fall in the same period.

The meeting has discussed even on the amendment of the constitution otherwise, the legitimacy of the party could be questioned.

Party Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel said that most of the speakers in the meeting pointed out the need of consulting with other political parties including CPN-UML for amending the provision of the constitution related to the political parties.

Leader Poudel pointed out the need of amending the bill on preamble of the constitution, secularism and threshold among other issues.

General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Bimalendra Nidhi among others had expressed their views in the meeting.
