Top 3 NC leaders hold meeting to forge consensus on PM candidacy

KATHMANDU: Top three leaders of the Nepali Congress— President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel--on Saturday morning held a meeting to discuss whom to field in the prime ministerial election from the party.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

The top three leaders intensified discussions after the Parliament set the time from 11 am to 4 pm today to register candidacies.

The party on Friday authorised top three leaders of the party to make a decision on the party’s stance on new government formation including whether to field its own candidate.

A Central Working Committee meeting of the party that began on Wednesday ended yesterday without making a concrete decision on the matter.
