NC will not take govt's insensitivity towards Dr KC lightly: Spokesperson Sharma

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has reiterated that the party will launch strong protests if the government does not table the Medical Education Bill without altering the previously introduced provisions.

In response to a query regarding obstruction of House of Representatives and whether the NC will continue to do so till the government drops the revised bill, Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma told THT Online, "No such institutional decision has been made. However, if the government does not respond to Dr Govinda KC's condition with sensitivity and goes against people's sentiment by forcing the Medical Education Bill, NC will strongly protest it at the House and on streets."

"The provisions in the Medical Education Bill must fall in accordance to the agreement reached with Dr KC by the previous government," added Sharma.

The spokesperson further stated that the party will strongly take the case forward should the government fail to correct its arbitrary moves.

Earlier on Tuesday, NC had announced nationwide protests against the federal and provincial governments’ ‘arbitrary moves that undermine rule of law’.
