Nepal Army chief self-quarantines as residence staff tests positive for covid

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Nepali Army Purna Chandra Thapa has gone into quarantine as one of the staffers at his official residence in Jhamsikhel has contracted coronavirus infection.

According to the NA's public relations directorate, the CoAS is in quarantine since Sunday morning following the protocol as set by the Health Ministry.

The residence-staff had tested positive on Saturday.

Earlier, Thapa along with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense had gone into self-quarantine as a staff at Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre had been infected by the novel virus.

The capital hosts the most number of active infections in the country as the rate of coronavirus cases are increasing steadily in the three districts of the valley, on a daily basis.
