Nepal says parties incorporating public feedback as much as possible

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said the parties are in an effort to include feedback collected from people as much as possible into the new constitution.

During a meeting with the US Ambassador to Nepal, Peter W Bodde, at his residence in the Capital, Nepal said the failure to hold local body elections had also caused hindrance in rescue, relief and reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of the massive earthquake.

He told the US Ambassador that it was necessary to hold local elections at the earliest to strengthen the base of democracy.

On the occasion, Ambassador Bodde inquired Nepal of the problems seen in constitution making, the time to be taken in the process and the efforts at reaching agreements with other political parties.

The two also discussed issues of contemporary political scenario and future course of the country, said Nepal's Personal Secretary Mohan Gautam.
