Nepali Congress PP urges for immediate passage of pending bills

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress is gearing up to pile pressure on the ruling parties for endorsement of the Constitution Amendment Bill tabled at the Parliament.

The NC Parliamentary Party meeting held today took the decision to call on the government to address the Tarai-Madhes agitation immediately by advancing the Amendment Bill.

In the meeting, the decision was taken to exert pressure for the immediate passage of bills related to constitution amendment and post-quake reconstruction table at the Parliament by the NC-led government, said lawmaker Bharat Khadka.

On the occasion, NC Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel had briefed lawmakers about the negotiations that took place between the ruling coaliton and the Madhes-centric parties on Saturday.

The lawmakers attending the meeting decided to urge the ruling parties and the agitating side to be serious and exercise flexibility, and resolve the standoff through dialogues and agreement, citing the country was now facing a frightening prospect due to continued agitation in Tarai-Madhes.
