New provision requires students to clear entrance exam for BL

KATHMANDU: Students wishing to pursue Bachelor's degree in Law are required to pass the entrance exams, as per the new provision enforced by the Faculty of Law at Office of the Dean recently.

The Dean's Office has allocated limited seats for the programme among various colleges. The Office allocated 500 seats for Nepal Law Campus, and 150 for other three colleges running the programme.

The Nepal Law Campus has set the entrance exams for the programme on April 8.  The distribution of the form starts from March 12 and ends on March 29.

Campus Chief DN Parajuli said, “The quota system was introduced to increase quality education in the field of law.

"We cannot take many students for lack of adequate physical infrastructure. So we resorted to the move," he said.

Meanwhile, student unions like unit committee of the All Nepal National Free Students' Union padlocked the main gate of the campus and the Office of the Dean to protest the enforcement of the quota system. They have also demanded scraping of the system.
