New TU VC vows to change classrooms

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Tirtha Raj Khaniya, has pledged to bring a change in the structure of classrooms and the teaching activities in the University.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the Education Journalists’ Group here today, he said as the old style of teaching and learning was not able to withstand competition with international education today, it would be replaced with participatory and interactive methods.

Emphasising on the need to run tutorial classes in order to learn things that are not understood in the classrooms, Khaniya said the time of university teachers should be fully utilised in that way.

Absence of education policy is the reason behind anomalies in the education sector, he added.
