No local elections sans consensus, argues Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh said that the local elections would not be possible without political consensus.

While inaugurating a two-day training organised by the Skilled Human Resource Development Centre here today, leader Singh urged the government to forge the consensus for the same. He also said that the government should concentrate more on forging consensus rather delivering speeches.

Leader Singh, who is also the former Minister for Local Development, said that his party was in favour of going ahead by preparing work schedules for the elections of local, federal and central bodies after formulating essential laws.

He urged the government to make the environment for talks with Tarai-centric parties, adding that the situation was worsening as these parties continued agitations.
