Minister Pandit fines hotels not adhering to environment protection rules

KATHMANDU: Minister for Population and Enviornment Lal Babu Pandit has issued orders to fine some big hotels that have been operating without conducting environment impact assessment.

Fines from Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000 have been imposed on those organisations who have been operating without adhering to laws concerning environmental impact, Minister Pandit told THT Online.

He further said that he would not tolerate violation of set standards and would work to address environment related issues.

In the meantime, the Environment Minister has also written to the Ministry of Health to take action against the hospitals that are short of set standards.
