NSU President Nain Singh Mahar arrested

KATHMANDU: President of Nepal Students Union (NSU) Nain Singh Mahar was arrested for conducting anti-government protests, today.

NSU is a sister wing of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives,  Nepali Congress.

Police arrested around half a dozen protesters from Baneshwor including Mahar and his deputy Navin Rai  who were staging demonstrations against the administration for arresting NSU cadres from Pokhara. The demonstrators said that the union's cadres were arrested on false allegations and demanded their immediate release.

Pokhara police on Saturday had arrested five NSU cadres for torching government vehicles.
