Oli defends intent to name Pradeshes after statute promulgation

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said names of Pradeshes and their demarcation can be finalised only after the promulgation of new constitution.

At a programme his party organided in the Capital on Saturday, the party Chairman argued that disputes had surfaced regarding the matters of federalism just to stonewall the constitution-writing.

Similarly, party leader Astalaxmi Shakya said the new constitution is the utmost need of the country. The constitution can be changed as per the demand of time and people, she added.

Central member of the party, Rajan Bhattarai, said the constitution is a document of political consensus and it reflects common sentiments and affairs of people.

Lawmakers Binod Shrestha and Rameshwor Phuyal said although the constitution draft has some flaws, it has adopted republic and social justice and would institutionalise political achievements.
