Sexual minorities parade on Gaijatra Day

KATHMANDU: Coinciding with the Gaijatra festival, sexual minorities in Kathmandu staged a rally demanding inclusion of their issues in the constitution.

The lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transvestites have been holding such parades every year on Gaijatra, a festival also regarded as an occasion to make fun of various evils being practised in society.

The sexual minorities in Nepal say that are largely being discriminated by state mechanisms. The nation, however, has recently issued the first 'O' category passport to a transgender person.
