Over 2 dozen activists including Krishna Pahadi detained for staging protest in front of Indian Embassy

KATHMANDU: More than two dozen rights activists including veteran Krishna Pahadi were detained in front of the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy on Thursday.

The rights workers were staging a sit-in in front of the Embassy protesting India's unofficial blockade on Nepal after promulgation of the new Constitution on September 20.

The Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) had organised the protest on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day.

Other detainees include HURPES chief Gangadhar Adhikari, Krishna Kandel, Uttam Pudasaini, Renuka Paudel, Pushpa KC among others.

The demonstrators had also chanted slogans demanding that India end the blockade at the earliest.

They said the blockade was a crime against humanity.
