Pedestrian killed in Sinamangal jeep-hit

KATHMANDU: A pedestrian died after being hit by a sumo jeep in Sinamangal of Kathmandu district on Tuesday night, police said.

Police have identified the deceased as Goma Bhujel (47) of Charikot in Dolakha district, currently residing in Sinamangal of Kathmandu.

The incident occurred when the jeep (Na 1 Ja 4250) struck Bhujel at 10:00 pm yesterday, critically injuring her, according to police.

Bhujel was rushed to the Sinamangal-based Kathmandu Medical College where she breathed her last at 10:15 pm the same night during the course of treatment, informed Gaushala-based Metropolitan Police Office.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.
