PM garlands statues

KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday garlanded the statue of late Pushpalal Shrestha, the founder General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal, at Champadevi in Kirtipur and the statues of late leaders Madan Bhandari and Jeevraj Ashrit at the CPN-UML central office at Madannagar, Balkhu. Bhandari, the then general-secretary of the CPN-UML and Jeevraj Ashrit, the chief of the party’s organisation department, were killed in a road accident on May 16, 1993. Oli garlanded the statues and paid homage to the veteran communist leaders after taking the oath of office. The Prime Minister was accompanied by newly-appointed UML ministers. Locals at Madannagar Balkhu requested the PM and party chairman Oli not to shift the party office to other place as the place was named Madannagar due to the location of the party central office there.
