PM Koirala pledges support to Sajha Prakashan

Kathmandu, September 4

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today assured of support to the Sajha Prakashan during a meeting with the delegation of Sajha Prakashan Management Committee and other literary figures.

Dolendra Sharma, general manager, Sajha Prakashan, said, “The PM expressed commitment to supporting us financially so as to save publication house from the verge of collapse.” He stated that the delegation today met with PM and briefed him on the current financial crisis facing the publication house and sought soft loan from the government.

“Currently, we have Rs 400 million loan but if the government provided us Rs 200 million soft loan we can manage the staff and carry out our works efficiently.” He stated that they have urged the government to release the fund before Dashain (mid October), if possible.

The delegation from Sajha Prakashan included member of the management committee of Sajha Prakashan Pradeep Nepal and Dinanath Sharma, national poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Chancellor of Nepal Academy (NA) Ganga Prasad Upreti, former chancellor of NA Bairagi Kaila, culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi and Managing Director of Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC) Anil Kumar Jha, among others.

A few weeks ago, MoE had decided to allow only JEMC and Sajha Prakashan to print school textbooks.
