PM meets ailing leader Khapangi

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday visited ailing former general secretary Rastriya Janamukti Party, Gore Bahadur Khapangi, at the latter's residence at Nakhkhu Dobato in Lalitpur and inquired about his health condition.

During the visit, PM Oli pledged to provide Khapangi's family with all kind of assistance the government can do in the treatment of Khapangi.

Oli was accompanied by CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam and Minister for Information and Communications Technology Sherdhan Rai.

Khapangi (71) suffers from paralysis on one side of his body and is speechless after he sustained deep head injuries in an accident at the Exhibition Road in the Capital two years ago.

The family said that although Khapangi was taken to hospitals like Bir, Neuro and Norvic and to Singapore for treatment and around Rs 17. 5 million has been spent in the treatment; his health is yet to improve.

Earlier, Khil Raj Regmi-led government had released Rs 500,000 for Khapangi's treatment.
