PM evaluates his govt high on 'honeymoon completion' day

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal claimed his government accomplished as many tasks as one could do in 300 days in general within the first 100 days in his office.

Organising a press conference at his office this afternoon, the Prime Minister said the government could accomplish significant achievements in various areas including Constitution implementation, post-earthquake reconstruction, national financial management and supply system among others.

Dahal during the press meet had read out thematic lists of the decisions and actions taken by the government after assuming office in early August in various sectors including Constitution implementation, conclusion of the peace process, poverty alleviation, foreign employment, national development projects, information and communication, good governance, agricultural development, hydropower development, disaster risk management among others.

Recalling that he had taken few significant decisions on the first day of his office, he claimed that his government performed well in the implementation of those decisions as well as what he pledged in multiple addresses to the House.

He reiterated that the government was committed to ensure full implementation of the Constitution and local polls in January 2018 for the same.

The Prime Minister, meanwhile, said what he presented were not the full lists, but just "glimpses of the trends the government was moving along."

Wishlist or progress report?

Though the Prime Minister claimed that the achievements were encouraging, the lists were apparently found full of trivias and not-yet-real developments.

For example, he has listed some yet-to-be-launched mobile apps under the heading 'Good governance and service delivery.'

Likewise, the 'trade expansion' list also includes projects of Megacity and One City: Identity, which in fact are yet to be implemented.

'Govt moving ahead in consensus'

Putting forth his views on latest political situations, the Prime Minister said the government was moving ahead in a consensus of major political actors about issues of national importance.

He said the Constitution amendment proposal would be tabled within one week.

Meanwhile, Dahal said he was holding discussions with the coalition partner Nepali Congress in a bid to conclude the ongoing discussions on the impeachment motion against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki at the House in consensus.

The government was preparing to assign ministers to establish various offices at the provincial level so as to implement the federalism model as envisaged in the Constitution, Dahal revealed.

Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi and some other Cabinet members were also present on the occasion.
