Police arrest FNNTE General Secretary Saroj Sitaula

KATHMANDU: Following the Home Ministry’s directive to take action against transport entrepreneurs disrupting public transport in support of syndicate system, Police have arrested Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneur General Secretary Saroj Sitaula from Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu today.

Sitaula was taken into custody from the vicinity of reporters club where he was scheduled to speak at an interaction. It has been learnt that Sitaula has been taken to Metropolitan Police Range, Teku.

Likewise, Police following instructions from the Home Ministry, have arrested officials of Mechi Bus Entrepreneurs Association, East-Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs Association, Himal Transportation Entrepreneurs Association, Sagarmatha Transportation Entrepreneurs Association, West-Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs Association.

Earlier, Home Ministry had instructed Chief District Officers of all 77 districts to take necessary action against transport associations in their respective districts for their support of transport syndicate.

The public transportation service across the nation has been disrupted after the Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneurs Association (FNNTEA) called for the protest today.
