Police clearance report via email

Kathmandu, April 24

Nepalis living in foreign countries can apply for and obtain police clearance report via email.

DIG Manoj Neupane, Nepal Police spokesperson, said the security agency had launched an email address (policereport@nepalpolice.gov.np) for receiving application from Nepalis living abroad and issuing character verification report to the qualified applicants through the electronic means.

Character verification report is issued upon verification of the applicants’ personal details and criminal history. The entire process takes up to seven working days after which the character verification report is issued to the applicant.

According to Nepal Police, Nepalis living abroad may be entitled to police clearance report which only covers the period they stayed in Nepal. Anyone desirous of obtaining the report should submit an application along with a copy of passport, citizenship certificate and marriage registration certificate (in the case of married woman), and two copies of passport size photos. Until recently, Nepalis living abroad had to approach Nepal Police Headquarters, Character Verification Section, to apply for and obtain the certificate.
