Police nab two for setting school bus on fire

Kathmandu, July 28

Police have arrested two cadres of All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary, student wing of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, for setting a school bus on fire on July 22.

A special team led by DSP Ramesh Thapa of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division yesterday nabbed Khadga Bahadur KC, 23, of Rukum, currently residing at Shankhamul, and Naresh Thakuri, 30, of Dhading, from Bhrikutimandap.

The duo had set a bus (Na 1 Pa 1023) belonging to Modern Indian School on fire at around 6:15 am in front of Laboratory School, Kirtipur Municipality-3 on July 22. The bus had suffered damaged in the arson. There were no students in the bus.

The MPCD said the team of DSP Thapa was after the culprits based on physical features provided by eyewitnesses. Through a press statement the same day, ANNISU-R had claimed the responsibility of arson.

The arrestees have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, to proceed with arson charge.
