Pranab Mukherjee meets President Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas

KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee held a meeting with his Nepali counterpart, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, at the Sheetal Niwas in Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

Leading a delegation comprising of around 60 members, Mukhejee had landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport this afternoon upon an invitation by Bhandari for a three-day state visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official Twitter page said the bilateral meeting was "warm and cordial."

Mukherjee congratulates Nepal for Constitution promulgation

MoFA spokesperson Bharat Raj Paudyal told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti that the meeting was focused on mutual interests of the both nations.

"The Indian President Mukherjee also congratulated President Bhandari, people of Nepal and the Constituent Assembly for the Constitution promulgation here," he added.

Likewise, he had invited Bhandari for an India visit at an earliest date.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeeban Bahadur Shahi, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi among others were present during the bilateral meeting from the Nepali side, according to the RSS.

Meanwhile, Mukherjee also attended a reception hosted by Kathmandu-based Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae in his honour.
