Preparation for second phase of civic polls concluded: CEC Yadav

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has informed that all the preparations for the second phase of local level elections have been completed.

The Election Commission has also asked the candidates to file their nominations for the second phase of local elections tomorrow in a peaceful manner.

Speaking to media persons today, CEC Yadav also asked all the political parties, candidates and concerned authorities to follow the Election Code of Conduct and added, "Those who violate the Conduct will be slapped a fine."

Similarly, he also said that the voter education related materials have been prepared in 16 different local languages for the voters' convenience to increase their participation in the second round of civic polls.

Meanwhile, local level polls in eight districts of Province number 2 – Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat , Bara and Parsa – have been postponed for September 18 as the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has refused to participate in the polls.

The government had successfully concluded the first phase of local level elections in 34 districts of Province number 3, 4 and 6 on May 14.
