PM Oli welcomes UDMF's decision to end blockade, shutdown

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has welcomed the United Democratic Madhesi Front's decision to withhold the border blockade, general shutdown and obstruction of government offices, according to the Prime Minister's press advisor Pramod Dahal.

In a press note, Dahal said the Prime Minister has taken the UDMF's decision as a positive move.  A meeting of the top leaders of UDMF constituent parties held in Kathmandu this afternoon had decided to withhold the blockade at Nepal-India border entry points, general shutdown and obstruction of government offices for the time being.

"I welcome the Front's decision to withhold the general shutdown, border blockade and obstruction of the government offices for the time being," the note quoted the Prime Minister as saying.

Prime Minsiter further urged all stakeholders to resolve differences through dialogue, pointing out the need for joint efforts for the same.

Protesting the new constitution promulgated on September 20, the UDMF intensified the agitation in the Tarai-Madhes region resorting to border blockade on September 24.

संयुक्त लोकतान्त्रिक मधेशी मोर्चाको आजको बैठकले गरेको निर्णयलाई मैले सकारात्मक रुपमा लिएको छु । निर्णयको म स्वागत गर्दछु ।
