PU council meeting held

Kathmandu, September 5

The 28th council meeting of Purbanchal University held here today passed a proposal to develop an education centre in 805 bigha land at Guthgaon, Sunsari.

PU Spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Jha said the university also passed the proposal to run a constituent campus for MBBS programme. The university has urged the government to allow it to use Koshi Zonal Hospital for MBBS programme for the time being.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is the chancellor of the university, said, “Purbanchal University is an ornament of the eastern region. So the government will provide all possible support to the university.”

Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha praised the university for playing an important role in boosting the nation’s education system.

The PU council decided to mark this year as development year, focusing on infrastructure development. It  has sought Rs 300 million for the purpose from the government.
