Ram Chandra Paudel's team announced for NC election

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress acting President Ram Chandra Paudel announced his candidacy for the party presidential election to be held during the 13th national general convention to begin in the Capital tomorrow.

Paudel announced that party leader Shashanka Koirala, also the youngest son of party founder BP Koirala, will run for the general secretary from his panel.

Paudel, however, has failed to pick a candidate for the treasurer's position.

Party's General Secretary Prakash Man Singh will propose Paudel for the party's top post while Ram Sharan Mahat will second it, the panel shared organising a press conference at the party central office today.

Now, Paudel will vie for the top post with party senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, incumbent General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and the International Department Chief Sujata Koirala.

Likewise, Shashanka will have to face Arjun Narsingh KC (from the Deuba panel) and Gagan Kumar Thapa (from the Sitaula panel) to achieve the powerful position.

While Sitaula has already announced his panel, Deuba is likely to make the names of his camp public on Thursday only, the first day of the convention.

Likewise, Sujata has also already announced her candidacy for the top post.
