Reconstruction engineers directed to return to work

KATHMANDU: The Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Urban Development has directed the engineers and technicians deployed in the post-earthquake reconstruction to return to work within two days.

Project Director of the Unit, Shiva Hari Sharma, in a notice issued on Thursday, has also requested those who do not want to return to work within the two days' deadline to go to the Concerned District Project Implementation Unit and end their respective contract.

"The candidates in the waiting list would replace those who decide to annul their contract," he has said in the statement.

Meanwhile, the Unit has also clarified that preparations are being made to table a proposal before the Cabinet to provide up to 75 per cent allowance to the engineers and technicians based on geography and performance.

Earlier, the engineers had filed a resignation en masse.
