Kathmandu, August 26

Peace and Reconstruction Ministry was formed to integrate Maoist combatants into the Nepali Army, rehabilitate the conflict victims and reconstruct infrastructure destroyed during the conflict following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord in 2063.

Instructing the ministry’s employees, Minister Yadav reminded them that the delay and lack of transparency in works could derail democracy. She said everyone should be treated equally in a democratic country and people should focus on result-oriented works.

The ministry was tasked with reconstructing infrastructure worth Rs 35 billion, but it has managed to reconstruct only Rs 9 billion worth of structures.
