Relief for fire victims

Kathmandu, May 2

The government has decided to provide two bundles of corrugated zinc sheets to each family that lost their home in the fires that occurred in different parts of the country in the past few months.

A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu today took the decision to provide support for the fire-affected families to build new homes, informed Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey.

According to official records, at least 1,402 private homes have been destroyed in various fire incidents across the country since November last year.

Incidents of wildfire have also increased of late.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also promoted six under-secrtaries to the post of joint secretaries.

Those that have been promoted to the post of joint secretaries are Nita Pokhrel Arayal, Uday Bahadur Rana Magar, Govinda Prasad Rijal, Jhakka Prasad Acharya, Nawaraj Dhakal, and Gajendra Kumar Thakur.

Similarly, the cabinet also appointed Pukar Chandra Shrestha as the Executive Director of Human Organ Transplant Centre.
