SAC forms sub-committee to study election-related bills

KATHMANDU: The State Affairs Committee under the Legislature-Parliament has formed an 11-member sub-committee for carrying out a detailed study of the three proposed election-related bills.

and Integrate Laws Related to the Works, Duties and Responsibilities of the Election Commission-2016; the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate Laws Related to the Political Parties -2016; and the Bill Designed to Amend and Integrate Laws Related to the Voters List-2016.

The sub-committee has been given 15 days to carry out the detailed study of these three proposed bills and give suggestions to the Committee.

A meeting of the Committee today formed the sub-committee comprising Ananda Dhungana, Ishwari Neupane and Ram Krishna Yadav representing the Nepali Congress; Ganga Lal Tuladhar, Man Prasad Khatri and Rameshwar Phuyal from the CPN-UML; Rekha Sharma and Santa Kumar Darai from the CPN Maoist Centre, Dharmendra Sah Teli from the Tarai-Madhes-centric parties; Bikram Bahadur Thapa from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Prem Suwal from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party representing the fringe parties.

Likewise, the meeting extended the term of a sub-committee constituted to prepare the Committee's annual report, the sub-committee constituted to study the Social Conduct Reforms Act-2016, the sub-committee to look into the Tikapur incident and the sub-committee constituted to study the Armed Police Force Regulations by 15 days.
