Sanjay Dutt biopic 'Sanju' creates history

KATHMANDU: Bollywood biopic Sanju, based on the controversial life of actor Sanjay Dutt, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, has set the record for the highest single day collection for a Hindi film, surpassing the previous record held by southern magnum opus Baahubali 2.

According to Indian film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh, Sanju collected INR 46.71 crores on Sunday while Bahubali 2 had made INR 46.50 crores on its first Sunday. The film had also set the record for highest opening-day collection for 2018.

Sanju, helmed by ace director Rajkumar Hirani, also gave Ranbir Kapoor his career best opening figures and is set to become his biggest box-office success, so far.

The film also starring Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Jim Sarbh, among others, is generating positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
