Seven more health clinics shut down

KATHMANDU: A monitoring team of the Ministry of Health has shut down seven more health clinics that were found running without due registration.

This is in addition to the 13 such clinics and medical centres already shut down in the past two days in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. The monitoring is being carried out at the special initiative of Health Minister Gagan Thapa.

On Wednesday, the team led by Deputy Health Administrator at the Management Division Dr Ramraj Panthi sealed six clinics in Kathmandu and handed over a 24-hour ultimatum to two more.

Those sealed are Nepal Janaswastha Kendra, Nagarjun Dental Clinic, Alka Dental Home, Osho Ashik Dental clinic, Om Natural Dental Clinic and Bypas Polyclinic.

Nobel Dental Home and Samrat Polyclinic were given 24 hours to fulfill all the requirements or face a shutdown, Dr Panthi said. The team had checked into 14 clinics in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

On the same day, another team led by Under-Secretary at the Ministry's Monitoring Division Bhawanath Khatiwada made an on-site visit to 16 health institutes in Lalitpur.

Of them, Ortho Neuro Rehabilitation Centre was shut down.

Both the teams would continue the monitoring work on Thursday as well.
