KATHMANDU: Mortal remains of three persons who were missing after the April 25 earthquake have been found while clearing rubble of a building that was reduced to ground at Gongabu of Kathmandu.

Almost four months after the devastating earthquake, skeletons were discovered on Sunday at the site of building that housed Butwal Guest House in Gongabu.

According to police, the remains were of 28-year-old Bhumikala Regmi Sinjali of Palpa, who ran the guest house, her daughter Anuska Sinjali, and 18-year-old Mukesh Bardewa of Nuwakot. Bardewa was an employee at the guest house.

The remains have been sent to the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for forensic tests.

Ministry of Home Affairs' official figures show that at least 8,959 people, including 1229 in Kathmandu, were killed in the April 25 earthquake and its powerful aftershock on May 12.

About 44,000 houses were fully damaged in Kathmandu alone.
