SAARC Secretary General congratulates President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Amjad Hussain B Sial, on behalf of all officials of the SAARC Secretariat, has felicitated President Bidya Devi Bhandari on her re-election to the top post of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

In a letter addressed to the President today, the Secretary General offered his congratulations to the President. He said that the President's re-election to the high office of presidency for a second term is amply indicative of the trust and confidence that people of Nepal rest in her leadership. He wished for President Bhandari's success in the exalted position.

Referring to the three SAARC Summits hosted by Nepal in 1987, 2002 and 2014, the Secretary General said, Nepal as the founding member has been playing a key role in the evolution of regional cooperation under the auspices of SAARC since in its inception in 1985.

He, as the current chair of SAARC, expressed hope to receive continued support and guidance from Nepal, in further strengthening the SAARC process.
