Student unions for impeachment against Lok Man Singh Karki

KATHMANDU: Leaders of various student unions today urged the major political parties to be responsible and move ahead to pass the impeachment motion registered at the Legislature-Parliament against the Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lok Man Singh Karki.

At a programme jointly organised by various student unions today, the leaders urged the parties to pass the impeachment proposal immediately to maintain the rule of law in the country.

Chairperson of All Nepal National Free Students Union, Nabina Lama, expressed her worry over  Karki's activities against judiciary. "No one has any right to carry out such activities," she added.

Similarly, Nepal Students Union General Secretary Kundan Kafle stressed the need of maintaining the rule of law by keeping the judicial supremacy intact.

Chairperson of the of the ANNISU-Revolutionary Centre, Narendra Neupane, and Chairperson of a student union close to Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic, Kapaleshwor Yadav, also urged the party leaderships to conclude discussions on the impeachment motion as per the rule.

Meanwhile, ANNFSU Secretary RC Lamichhane said that the unions would launch pressure-oriented programmes to institutionalise democracy by adhering to the rule of law in the country.
