Trio held with red panda hide

KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested three persons in possession of a red panda hide from Kapan of Kathmandu.

Sandeha Limbu (26) of Budhanilakantha-12 in Kathmandu, Deu Narayan Shrestha (43) of Taklung in Gorkha and Amrit Bahadur Tamang (46) of Rasnalu-7 of Ramechhap were arrested from Sattale, Kapan, Budhanilakantha-12.

The trio were sent to the Kathmandu District Forests Office for further investigation and action.

If convicted of the crime, each of the smugglers would be sentenced to one to 10 years in jail, or fined Rs 40,000 to Rs 75,000 or both.

Further investigation is underway.
